The Rusty Suns announce their presence to the music world with a beautifully matched double A side that demonstrates in part the best of the bands live material. Originally recorded in the August of 2013, a prolonged wait has only served to raise the anticipation of fans and critics alike to near fever pitch, as 2014 sees their debut EP promising to become the soundtrack to everybody’s summer.
Flip the disc over and we’re hit by the bouncing beast that is ‘Loco’. Tom Redburn takes the lead here to give us the sweetest broken-Cockney vocal heard since a chimney sweep got his hands on some ol’ bamboo. Juniper side-hits just about every part of his kit, while Alfredo Corrales taps out a great jug-band bass to create a right-stomping Friday night knees-up down the local boozer. The lyrics depict good times n bad guys (“It started with you cheatin’ n acting like a whore/Snake-boy was a junky, with needles lying on the floor), giving real bite to the cheeky groove. The video for ‘Loco’ was shot at The Rusty Suns’ favourite little clubhouse, Earl Haig Hall, in Crouch End and the army archives and flocked wallpaper of this British legion/workingmans club are a fitting back-drop to a song that plays up to the bands dirty reputation and will get you swaggering across the dance floor like it’s VE day all over again!
